A performance class with the Guitar Institute, part of London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP).

A senior Guitar Institute tutor will host a class in modern blues guitar playing. Whether you are a seasoned guitarist, or just starting to discover the myriad possibilities of guitar expression, this class is for you. Modern blues is influenced by jazz, funk, rock, and many other styles. This event will provide attendees with an insight into how to infuse your blues playing with individuality, taste, and inspiration, and above all else, how to play convincingly and artistically. Find out how the pros do it!

ICMP will be providing an incredible house band for this performance class - which will comprise some of the most highly regarded players and teachers in the UK today. Members of the audience will be invited to perform on stage, receiving tutelage from the host tutor and band members. There can’t really be many better ways to learn the guitar than this!

Larry Carlton is one of the most important guitarists of his generation. He achieved worldwide fame for his playing with two of the most important blues/fusion outfits of the past forty years - The Crusaders and Steely Dan. Throughout his professional career Larry has also been a prolific and successful composer. His theme tune for the TV show “Hill Street Blues” won him a Grammy. Several other compositions have received Grammy nominations. He has also been an incredibly highly regarded and in demand session guitarist for much of his career.
