Nick is a torch bearer for a new generation of innovative guitarists - his playing is a creative synergy of players such as Holdsworth and McClaughlin. He is an experienced and innovative guitar teacher, having taught at both Guitar Institute and Guitar-X guitar schools. He is also the Academic Director of the newly launched Modern Guitar School. In 2005, Nick won the BBC Radio 2 John Dankworth Award for the most promising young jazz soloist.
Nick is a patient, highly organised, and systematic teacher, who will be delivering the Applied Guitar Getaway from August 10th to 16th 2008, and the (more jazz focused) Applied Guitar Getaway running from September 7th to 13th 2008

Guthrie is one of the most important guitarists on the scene today - and we're delighted to welcome him to the Guitar Getaways team. He'll be delivering a master-class as part of the Applied Guitar Getaway running from 10th to 16th August.
Guthrie first came to my attention when he won the 1993 Guitarist of the Year competition. He started playing guitar at the age of three, and appears never to have looked back since. He's currently a principal instructor at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, gigs with ASIA, and performs regularly with his own band. You can read a more detailed biography of this super-hero of modern guitar playing at http://www.coffee-n-creme.com/artists_guthriegovan.html
Some Choice snippets of Guthrie's superb playing:
Little Wing - Jam at Namm (We're going to be playing Little Wing on the Applied Getaway in August!)
HIde and Seek - blues and beyond!
We are delighted to welcome Jim Faulkner to the teaching team of Guitar Getaways. Jim teaches at the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) of which Sir Paul McCartney is a leading patron. Jim is a highly experienced player and teacher who has worked as a pro-player across the UK and Europe.

DO YOU LOVE TEACHING THE GUITAR? I'm always interested to hear from enthusiastic teachers who enjoy working in a group format. Our priority in recruiting teaching staff is to find players who love to teach, as well as to play the guitar - i.e. teaching is not just something you do between gigs!
At the moment I am particularly interested to hear from teachers who have a special interest in Jimi Hendrix - whether as a performer, in terms of creative energy, transcription, theoretical and technical - in fact I am interested to hear from you if you have any special interest in delivering material related to Jimi's work.
If you are interested in teaching for Guitar Getaways, please get in touch with me, sending a CV and ideally some audio of your playing and/or extracts of teaching materials that you use? Why not get in touch?
